Meet (and Magnify) Your Maker
Psalm 114
- people of strange language (Psalm 114:1). Jesus said that your words would either justify you or condemn you. Listen to the way unbelievers speak. If they speak of God at all, they either use His name as a curse word or they obviously speak about Someone with whom they have no personal acquaintance. They can speak for hours about a world of subjects and never once recognize God’s part in the matter.
- tremble at the presence of the Lord (Psalm 114:7). We stand in awe of the swimmer who wins 8 gold medals in a single Olympics competition; but do we have any wonder about the God who created the water for swimming or the body that swims?
Psalm 115
- Where is their God? ( Psalm 115:2) Is your God the sovereign Lord who inhabits the heavens and does whatever He pleases; or is your god the fabrication of a spiritually dead imagination and creative human effort?
- As Israel in general, and the house of Aaron in particular, have experienced the grace of God and they should continue both to trust Him and to praise Him (verses 9-16), so we should trust and praise our benevolent Creator.
- Don’t wait until you are dead to meet your Maker (Psalm 115:17-18)

1When Israel went out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange language;
Psalm 114:7
7Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob;
Psalm 115:2
2Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is now their God?
Psalm 115:17-18
17The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence.
18But we will bless the LORD from this time forth and for evermore. Praise the LORD.
