Notes: November 13, 2008 – Ecclesiastes 6 & 7

Some things are better than others

  • Why work and accumulate if you aren’t going to spend it? (6:1-2)
  • Having a large family and living to an old age doesn’t satisfy the soul (vs 3-6)
  • How can you know what is best? (vs 7-12)
  • A good name is desirable. So is death. (Ecclesiastes 7:1).
  • Sorrow should teach us (vs 2-5).
  • Finishing is better than merely starting a thing (7:8)
  • Don’t be soon angry (7:9)
  • Don’t long for “the good old days.” (7:10)
  • Money is good; but wisdom is better (vs 11-12, 19)
  • Consider God’s providence (vs 13-15)
  • Don’t be extreme in anything (vs 16-18)
  • All men are sinners (Ecclesiastes 7:20; Romans 3:23)
  • Watch what you say-mind your mouth (vs 21-22)
  • Wisdom is difficult to attain (vs 23-25)
  • A bad woman is worse than death (vs 26)
  • There are a few good men; and no good women (Ecclesiastes 7:27-29)
