A metaphor and a vision
Isaiah 5
- God’s vineyard (vs 1-7)
- A nation full of covetousness (vs 8-10), drunkenness (vs 11-12) and insolence (vs 18-23).
- A nation that deserves the wrath of God (vs 13-17, 24-30)
Isaiah 6
- Isaiah sees God (vs 1-4); and
- he is terrified (vs 5).
- Isaiah is commissioned to preach (vs 6-8) to
- an obstinate nation (vs 9-12).
- Yet, God will save a remnant (vs 13. Cp. Isa 1:9).
