Notes: February 4, 2009 – Hezekiah’s impending death and Psalms 42 & 43

Preparing for death

2 Kings 20 & Isaiah 38

  • Set your house in order; for you will die, and not live. Good advice for everyone who is dying, wouldn’t you say?
  • Then Hezekiah prayed. What do you do when you receive bad news?
  • Remember me, O Lord. What does God remember about you?
  • He wept. Grown men do cry at times.

Psalm 42

  • Do you long to be in the presence of God? (v 1-2)
  • Do you wonder why you’re so depressed? (v 5, 11)
  • Do you ask God to explain your depression? (v 6, 9)

Psalm 43

  • If God were to compare you with the ungodly, would you be more similar or dissimilar? (v 1)
  • Why, God, do I feel like this? (v 2)
  • Surrounded by lies and living in the dark? Ask God for light and truth. (v 3)
  • When God hears your prayers and delivers you, do you thank Him? (v 4)
  • When you’re feeling down, hope in God. (v 5)
