Continuing look at the Assyrian attempt to conquer Jerusalem

The Assyrians were well aware of Hezekiah’s reformation in Judah, and they even used it as an argument against following Hezekiah’s appeal that the people trust in the Lord (v 7).

Rabshakeh argues that the LORD will no more be able to help Jerusalem than the gods of their neighbors were able to save them from Assyrian conquest (v 18-20).

The people do not argue with Rabshakeh. Instead they give no answer to his appeals. There is a time to speak and a time to refrain from speaking. Knowing which time it is may not always be easy.
